Dear friend,
Football is a national sport, passion, and for some, even religion.
It's a thrilling time for all those sports-loving fanatics, and the rest of us, who want to catch up with family and friends to enjoy watching a good game of football.
Kids, the young and the old, all look to the big day with anticipation!
A Glorious Family Day Turns
Into an Arteries-Clogging Disaster!
You can watch the big game on your flat-screen, but nothing beats watching an action-packed football game live and in person ...
Ah ... the refreshing taste of iced-cold beer, the smell of grilled franks and bacon-wrapped hot dogs, cheeseburgers and nachos that can really whip up your appetite!
Unfortunately, these tempting, savoury and almost irresistible treats and foods are known for giving you heartburn, as your stomach backs up with acid, killing your liver and making your poo bulky and sharp the next day.
So you face a dilemma ...
On one hand, you know that low-pH, full-of-sugar, salt and fat food is not good for you, and on the other, you can't keep saying 'no' to all those wicked foods that make your taste buds go insane!
Solution? We believe in the 80/20 rule that's in favour of wholesome, alkaline-rich foods. This rule is simple and fun to follow. It gives you the buffer you need to be able to say 'yes' to those sinful foods that taste delicious. At least for twenty percent of the time... like during a big football game!
Of course, first you need to build a healthy buffer ...
Here are some practical 'alkaline lifestyle' tips to help you enjoy the big game without the annoying heartburn or acid-reflux.
10 Simple Acid-Fighting Strategies to Give You the Freedom
to Happily Snack on Your Favourite Football Foods!
Squeeze a lemon. Drink a glass of warm water with a squeeze of lemon first thing in the morning. Lemon is acidic, but when digested by your body it actually becomes alkaline-forming, which means it could help you neutralise those acids in your body.
Drink plenty of fresh water throughout the game. Water is good for you as it helps to hydrate your body and flush toxins and poisons out of your system. Also, drinking water helps many people minimise their strong craving for food, and reduce their appetite.
Add a pinch of salt. If you want to drink water but only fizzy varieties are available, simply add a pinch of table salt the get rid of the carbonation. Easy. It will make the water go flat and more alkaline.
Take an alkalising food supplement the next day. You need to help your body recover after the binge. Barley grass and other green superfoods are nutrient-rich and promote alkalinity. You can try Alkaline SuperFoods - a mixture of some of the most powerful green superfoods. It's also a rich source of alkalising minerals that help buffer acids in your system.
Take Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a great antioxidant, and is crucial for the maintenance of optimal health. It strengthens your immune system. Buffered vitamin C is usually combined with other alkalising minerals, and it can be great for lowering your body's pH. It may also decrease histamine production, thus helping you keep your allergies at bay.
Blunt the acidic effect of beer. Beer has an acidic pH, and it also stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid in your stomach. You can try taking a sodium and potassium mixture to neutralise the acid. It's also good for hangover!
Follow the 80/20 rule. This rule makes life easy and fun. But you need to eat smart, at least 80 percent of the time. The Alkaline CookBook shows you how to do that, so when the big game of football arrives, you'll be able to indulge in those '20 percent' foods without feeling guilty.
Take a multi to assist your digestive system. Your body needs vitamins and minerals to correct the pH imbalance, and to metabolise the sugar, fats and proteins effectively. Mineral supplements are also needed for the activation of essential enzyme reactions needed for healthy metabolism and digestion.
Put your jogging gear on. After the big game, you might be tempted to jump straight in bed. Force yourself to take a quick stroll down your street or around the block. Remember to walk fast. That way you'll increase your heart-beat rate and pump more blood to the heart, thus improving blood circulation and exhaling toxins out of your system.
Take 10 deep diaphragmatic breathes. You need to feel the expansion in your lower tummy to do this properly. Deep inhalation oxygenates the tissues, and deep exhalation helps to remove carbon dioxide from the body. It's also great for calming your mind and draining emotional and mental stress out of your body.
Keep these simple and practical 'rules' in mind the next time you make a family trip to watch and enjoy the big game of football.
If you do that, then football should turn into a brand new, more enjoyable and a healthier experience.
