Hot stuff, right? But not as hot as today’s ‘Part B’ of our discussion. You see, to boost your sexual pleasure, your sex hormones must be in balance. But, factors like ageing, diet, stress or the environment and health affect your body’s hormone production ability. In effect, your body lacks the natural ‘Viagra’ you need to enjoy life. I’m going to share with you natural ways to help you Let’s start with the first one... VITAMIN B12 – this vitamin is required for cells to replicate. Vitamin B12 is a must to maintain a healthy nervous system. When B12 is deficient, a decline in sperm count can occur. Also, vitamin B12 is necessary for healthy growth and haemoglobin production. Foods rich in vitamin B12 are: certain soya milks, breakfast cereals, milk, eggs and yeast extracts. You may consider taking a supplement especially if you’re a vegan. VITAMIN C – is awesome for building up the body’s immune system. Here’s the best bit (especially for guys) Vitamin C has been found to prevent free radicals from harming sperm cells. Vitamin C is also great for lowering blood pressure, relieving stress and producing collagen. All fruit and vegetables – particularly kiwi fruit, peppers, blackcurrant's, strawberries and citrus fruits – contain abundant quantities of vitamin C. VITAMIN E - A powerful antioxidant, vitamin E helps to reduce hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, headaches, nervousness and irritability. Sunflower, safflower oils and some vegetable oils, nuts and seeds, margarine, wheatgerm and avocados contain high levels. ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS – they are critical for health and because the body can’t make them, they must be supplied daily by the diet. Essential fatty acids supply stored energy in the form of calories. They are required for normal development and function of the brain, eyes, adrenal glands, and reproductive tract. Excellent sources of fatty acids are fish, nuts and seed (especially flaxseeds). BLACK COHOSH – this is a herb. Clinical studies show that black cohosh reduces PMS symptoms such as mood swings, anxiety, tension and a decline in libido. You can get it from all good health foods shops and some pharmacies. START EXERCISING - Physical activity improves sexual function because it helps lift and sustain energy levels. It also increases blood flow to the genitals, increasing your capacity for sexual arousal. CHANGE YOUR DIET - You are what you eat. If you’re feeling tired and sluggish most of the time, your sex life will suffer. If you’re constantly not in the mood for anything, eventually, your partner could even grow tired of you. You need to turn your body into a power-house by eating foods that alkalize and energise your body from inside out. The moment you do, your sex drive will improve. Try my Alkaline Cook Book, if you haven’t already done so, to help yourself eat healthy again. REEVALUATE YOUR LIVING SPACE - If your bedroom is cluttered with ‘stuff’, redo the space so it's more inviting and erotic. It could be a sensual painting, a goddess statue, or a dozen of red candles in the bedroom. I hope you can see, that a healthy body goes hand in hand with a healthy sex drive. That’s why you owe it to yourself (and your partner) to keep your body healthy with regular exercise and by eating the right kinds of foods. Also, a pinch of creativity could help you get lucky more often!Eat well! Be well! Enjoy Life! Dr Annie Guillet DC P.S. – Here’s an EXTRA TIP that always works! For many couples sex has become a chore. You need to create the right mood. Not right before sex, but throughout the day. Find ways to be romantic. Surprise your partner. Do something unexpected. Spend time alone talking and touching each other. Go for a walk. Bring home her/his favourite dessert. Look at your partner when they are talking and hold their gaze. Phone just to say hello, I love you and surprise your partner. Send them notes and small cards telling them you are thinking of them. Romance is hard to plan, so be spontaneous and surprise the person in your life a little more often. Don’t miss next week’s newsletter on how to detox your body. It will help you to achieve a healthy new you in time for summer.
