Dear {FirstName},
Your skin is extremely vulnerable to the outside world ...
Things like stress, pollution, UV radiation, poor sleep, and the high pace of living can dehydrate and age your skin making it look dull, tired and lifeless.
Instead of relying on chemical-loaded creams we think you should feed your skin with plenty of good nutrients from the inside.
Our research suggests that there are at least ten critical nutrients your skin needs to look fabulous and radiant. There is no particular order to this list as they are all important...
7 Ways to Smooth Wrinkles, Boost Radiance,
and Prevent Breakouts!
Vitamin A - this vitamin is powerful antioxidant that promotes the proper growth and function of skin cells. Without this important vitamin your skin, nails and hair will look dry, dull and lifeless. Medline Plus points out that symptoms of chronic vitamin A poisoning may occur in adults who regularly take more than 25,000 IU a day. So don't over do it. Sources of vitamin A are carrots, spinach, kale, apricots, papaya, peas and peaches.
Vitamin K - Vitamin K helps your body by making proteins for healthy bones and tissues. Sources of vitamin K include green vegetables, rhubarb, spinach, chlorophyll, cabbage and dark berries. According to Runner's World "Two tablespoons of chopped [basil] provide more than a quarter of your Daily Value for vitamin K, along with vitamins A and C, as well as calcium and iron." A study published in a recent issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that higher intakes of vitamin K may reduce the risk of developing cancer.
Vitamin E - this vitamin is a powerful antioxidant and it protects your cells and skin against the effects of free radicals. Prolonged vitamin E deficiency can cause nerve and muscle damage and make your body less able to fight off infections. The Rotterdam study suggests that those consuming the highest dietary intake of vitamin E were 25 percent less likely to develop dementia. Good sources of vitamin E are almonds, hazelnuts, wheat germ oil, sunflower seeds, and leafy greens.
Zinc - without zinc your immune system, that protects your body and your skin, won't function properly. Zinc is essential for tissue health and repair. It also stimulates the healing of skin irritations like acne and eczema. It also promotes healthy hair. Good sources of zinc are oysters, beef, lamb, fish, legumes, alfalfa, barley grass, baked beans and cashews.
Biotin - biotin helps your body effectively metabolise foods like, protein, fats and carbohydrates and use them for energy. It is also believed that it can work with your body to increase the elasticity of the hair's cortex to prevent breakage. If you don't eat dairy or meat then taking a multi should satisfy your body's need for this nutrient.
Folate - (also known as folic acid) this vitamin helps form red blood cells, new cells and produce DNA, the building block of the human body, including your skin. A University of Oxford study showed that taking folic acid, vitamin B6 and B12 may also slow Alzheimer's. Sources of folic acid are dark green leafy veggies, barley grass, wheat grass, beans and legumes, asparagus and avocado which is a perfect skin food!
Lysine - this important amino acid is needed to produce antibodies, hormones, enzymes, collagen formation as well as repair of tissue, maintain lean body mass, and enhance calcium absorption and retention. It is also beneficial to take during an outbreak of cold sores to speed healing. Good sources of lysine are found in cheese, nuts, alfalfa, eggs, lima beans, potatoes, milk, alfalfa, wheat grass, meat and brewer's yeast.
